Congrats to the “No Mullarkey” Team

I have been prepping clients for the past 8 years for figure, bikini and physique competitions.  The sport has changed a lot over the years with the introduction of bikini and physique, which seem to be taking over bodybuilding and figure.  When I began competing back in 2004 bikini wasn’t even around and now it looks like bikini has the look I had when earning my IFBB Pro card back in 2007.  I find it interesting how categories start out with a natural amount of muscle and then before long the competitors are looking harder and harder.  With that said, more and more of my female clients are looking to get their feet wet with bikini.

A couple of weeks back I had 4 clients compete in bikini ranging in ages 28-49 at a local NPC show.  I would like to personally congratulate Sarah Kist, Meggan Knowles, Michele Peterson and Nancie Dion for accomplishing their goals and getting on stage.  It takes a lot of dedication to nutrition, weights and cardio.  There is so much information out there on the internet and different opinions everywhere about how to prep but the bottom line is each of these gals listened to their coach, did the work and came out looking their absolute personal best.

Although, we didn’t bring home any hardware each client looked better than their previous shows.  All being 2nd time competitors they all looked more relaxed on stage and their presentations were more polished.  Their physiques have also improved, which we all know takes time. Bodybuilding is an art and takes years to perfect.  Those blessed with better genetics don’t have to take as much time as others but everyone has to be committed to the plan.  We all want tight glutes, no cellulite, a 6-pack and cut arms and legs but it doesn’t happen overnight.  That is why you see so much drug use in the sport because folks just aren’t being patient with the process.  I feel bad for those clients whose trainers talk them into taking “supplements” to help them get an edge.  Half the time I don’t even think the competitors even know what they are taking but they do so anyway because they trust their coach.  Well if I can give any advice, do it the natural way and take your time getting there.  Your body will thank you later in life!

I would like to personally congratulate my “No Mullarkey” Team for sticking to their goals and getting on stage looking amazing. Each one of you should be very proud for how far you have come in a short amount of time.  I know not getting a trophy can be disappointing but it will come in due time if you stay consistent.  I am very proud to be your coach and I am looking forward to continuing on this journey with each of you…….stay patient my friends:)
