For those of you who were following along this past weekend know that I competed in a local Ninja Skills Competition at AZ on the Rocks. I had a great finish placing 2nd in the Women’s Amateur Class and 3rd in the Men’s and Women’s Masters class. Due to these placings, I qualified in both classes for the UNAA Regionals. The biggest news, due to the results of the weekend, is that I am now an Invited Athlete to the American Ninja Experience Competition at Phoenix Stadium on Friday February 9th. Be sure and check out all info on the weekend at http://www.anwexperience.com.
I had originally signed up for the ANW Experience several months ago. Since I am now an Invited Athlete, they refunded my registration fee and I will be able to hang with the Pro’s from the hit show. Instead of running the course on Saturday, I will now be running Friday evening. I am still waiting to get details of my race time and once I do I will send it out. I know several of my family, friends and clients would like to come out and watch. I’m not sure if that comforts me or makes me more nervous:).
I am excited and naturally nervous about running the course. I have never been on the BIG stage before doing obstacles, I am used to walking in high heels in a tiny bikini:). This is certainly a different animal, but it is so nice to see all of my hard work training for the course starting pay off. This is not filming for the TV show, but a weekend full of fun. If you or your children want to give it a shot, you can sign up to try out the obstacles yourself. Not to mention you will get to meet some of your favorite ninjas in person. If all goes well, I might even get to run the course on Sunday in the Team Relay fund raiser.
I have been training for the past 3 years and I am curious to see how I will respond to the pressure and the challenges the course will bring me. I am certainly feeling more confident, but still have a long ways to go with my training and skill development. One of the reasons I decided to train for Ninja is because I needed a new challenge and a new goal. I also wanted to show my clients that I am learning and doing something completely outside of my comfort level. It’s ok to fail as long as you dust yourself off and get back to it. I surprised myself this past weekend at the local competition and I am excited to see how I will do on the BIG course. My goal is to get past the first obstacle and the rest will be a bonus. Baby steps! Who knows? I might be getting a call soon from NBC telling me I earned a tryout spot for the show American Ninja Warrior. If I do, I certainly want to be prepared for that chance of a lifetime opportunity.
