I am proud to announce that I completed my very first Spartan Race this past Saturday at Phoenix Cardinal Stadium. I would like to thank our Team Captain, Cheryl Mendez for putting our team together. “Babes and Balls” finished the race with bells/balls on and I wanted to send a BIG Congratulations to my teammates Cheryl, Gilbert, Jen, Sean and Dana.
This Spartan Race was part of the Stadium Series so we had to run and climb a ton of stairs! I have to admit that all of my training on the step mill paid off because I felt very strong going up and down all of those bleachers. It was a 4 mile course with a total of 19 obstacles. Some of the obstacles included a rope climb, sandbag carry, ring swing, getting over walls up to 8 feet in height and box jumps. I fell on 3 obstacles and your punishment for falling was 15 burpees. 45 burpees later and a few bumps and bruises, I completed the race. Here are my results……..
-I finished 4 miles in 1:03:47 with a 15:57 pace
-I placed 1004th out of 3152 athletes
-I placed 241st out of 1158 females
-I placed 28th out of 165 females in my age group of 40-44 years young
I have to say after seeing those results, I had to give myself a pat on the back. Since this was new I didn’t push myself as hard as I could of. I know in the future what to expect and will definitely be looking to place in the top 5 of my age group. We all have to have goals:)
