I am extremely thrilled for the “No Mullarkey” Team as they get ready to compete in the upcoming NPC competition in Mesa, AZ. I have 7 amazing women hitting the stage, six in bikini and one in figure. Each of these women have had very unique journeys and I couldn’t be more proud to be their coach.
As a trainer and retired IFBB and WBFF pro, I know what it takes to prep for a NPC competition. Through the years I have had multiple clients who have said that they wanted to compete but they did not follow through. If it was easy everyone would be walking around with amazing, fit bodies. The fact of the matter is, it’s not easy! It takes so much discipline, hard work and determination to go through the process and I give each of these gals so much credit for making it happen.
I have also found over the years as a coach that the diet is the hardest part of the journey. It is 80% of journey and once my clients commit to it they start to make weekly changes to their physiques. This group was a bit challenging because it took several of them a little bit before they realized the importance of clean eating and food prep. But once they focused their bodies began to change. It’s such a neat process to see the body fat melt away, especially when they realize that they are going to have to get in a tiny bikini in front of a lot of spectators. It always seems to sink in once we start posing practice six weeks out from the show. I call it the six week meltdown when they all freak out and swear that they won’t be ready.
No matter what the results are, I just want my “No Mullarkey” Team to know that I am a very proud coach. It doesn’t matter whether they bring home hardware or not, but it matters that they each followed through with their goals. I have told them time and time again at posing practice that all they need to worry about are themselves and the fact that they made it this far. It says so much about each one of them individually that they followed through with their goals.
With the hard work behind us, it’s now time to enjoy the stage! Best of luck to Nikki Valentine, Tara Gorman, Erin Cheatwood, Samantha Coffman, Tricia Zacchini, Sarah Kist and Cheryl Schaaf.
