American Ninja Warrior: My Goal for 2016

American Ninja Warrior:  My Goal for 2016

It’s all about goal setting with the New Year upon us!  The holidays are behind us and we all should be rested and ready to rumble, I know I am:)  At the end of 2015 I decided to tryout for American Ninja Warrior and embark on a whole new style of training.  I will never forget when I set foot in Scottsdale Parkour and got my first look at the obstacles I’ve watched on the show.  I thought to myself, “What the hell did I get myself into”?  Everything looked so intimidating and I was wondering to myself if I was a bit in over my head.

Well, after almost a year of training specific for Ninja I now know that I am not in over my head at all.  I accepted a new challenge, did my homework and am proving to myself and my clients that we can do anything we put our minds too.  Going out of your comfort zone can be intimidating but if you keep a positive mindset and do your homework you can teach your mind and body to learn anything.  This not only comes with my Ninja training but all the other goals in life I have set in the past: getting an NCAA division 1 scholarship to play field hockey, earning my IFBB pro card, starting “No Mullarkey” Personal Training, and landing 4 covers.  They all began as a goal in my head, I followed through with my heart and made them a reality.  YOU CAN DO IT TOO!

My goal for 2016 is to get selected to tryout for season 8 of American Ninja Warrior.  I didn’t let NOT getting selected for 2015 hold me back.  I have kept my eye on the prize and have continued to work on my skills.  I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I was not selected for last season because I had not EARNED it and was not fully prepared.  I am no pro at being a Ninja but I do know that I will certainly give it my all if I get selected to tryout.  Will I be scared out of my mind waiting for that starting buzzer overlooking the quintuple steps?  Your darn right I will be, but I will also take the energy from that fear and adrenaline rush to drive me through the course.

Only time will tell if I can give this course a run for it’s money, but I accept the challenge and I hope to inspire others to chase their dreams and goals no matter how crazy they may seem.  You never know until you try and nothing feels better than truly earning your right to that scholarship, pro card, successful business or whatever your goal may be in 2016.  Don’t be afraid of failure, failure makes you work harder and will make you appreciate accomplishing your goal that much more than if it was handed to you.  I promise you from experience all the blood, sweat and tears are worth it.

I challenge you to not only set your goals for this New Year but to accomplish them and make them a reality.  The mind is a powerful tool!  Don’t be a victim of failure, use it to drive you further than you ever thought.  I will be turning 40 this year and I am just getting started at life.  Stay motivated my friends……..I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!
